5. Program of discipline

Description of academic discipline, its goals, subject of study and learning outcomes

Course deals with projecting high-efficiency automated machine assembly productions based on technical retrofitting and reconstruction of operating productions and application of modern equipment and means of control at all stages of manufacturing processes.The purpose of this course is to study the foundations of projecting machine assembly workshops and departments of manufacturing enterprise, functional areas of its separate divisions, principles of their planning.
Special attention is paid to acquiring useful knowledge about the newest means of production and complete automation of manufacturing processes with using industrial robots, microcomputer techniques, integrated automated systems and lines in machine assembly workshops and departments.
Upon completion of course the student must receive the experience for practical application in production technology of general insight into the state of assembly technology, into systematic planning and realization procedures for machine assembly workshops and departments.

3. Basic methods of assembly operations, characteristics & description.
4. Manual assembly workshops, functions & assemblers. Classification of tools used for manual assembly operation.
5. Automated assembly workshops, functions & equipment. Categories of automated (hard) assembly workshops & departments.
6. Flexible automated assembly workshops, functions & equipment.
7. Rotary assembly machine workshops: different categories and configurations.
8. Multi assembly operations per machine workshops & departments.
9. Assembly lines, components & categories. Assembly line configurations: rotary, carousel & in-line.
10. Continuous moving assembly lines, types of workstations.
11. Robotic assembly lines, components & automated system.
12. Free transfer line factors of robotic assembly workshops & departments.
13. Indexing line factors & production rates of machine assembly shops.
14. The cycle time and production rate of the flexible assembly process.
15. Unit costs & production rates of machine assembly workshops & departments.
16. Skilled labor and the life of the product in assembly operations.

6. The integration of parts manufacturing processes into assembly equipment of assembly operations into parts production equipment.
7. Organizational Implementation of the assembly-extended ABC analysis.
8. Primary-secondary analysis -an aid for the determination of the economic efficiency of assembly workshops & departments.

Assessment methods and rating system of learning results assessment

Students' knowledge is assessed on a 100-point scale, which is translated into a national scale ("еxcellent", "good", "satisfactory", "unsatisfactory") and the scale of the European credit transfer system (ECTS - A, B, C, D, E, FX, F) in accordance with the main criteria and indicators of the level of knowledge, identified by students as a result of written and oral tasks, defense of reports on practical work, as well as final control in the form of credit provided that the student passes all stages of current control, passing modules in the form of testing and questioning from the list of exam.
